Board Of Directors

MAURICE BELL

Maurice (Mo) Bell is originally from Chicago, IL. He studied at Benedictine University (Lisle, IL) and graduated with a B.S. in Political Science / Pre Law. Following his undergraduate degree, Mo received his MBA at the Keller Graduate School of Management. Mo has been in Finance, Sales, and Sales Strategy with PepsiCo for 24 years. He has been married to his wife Sarah for 32 years and has 2 children, Ben (26) and Olivia (23). He has a passion for Fitness and Sports.

DOUG BOERSMA

Doug Boersma joined the Funding For Sports Foundation Board of Directors in 2017. He is currently the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Northbrook Bank & Trust Company, a Wintrust Financial Corporation charter with assets in excess of $2 billion. Prior to joining Wintrust Financial, Boersma was the Co-Head of the Illinois Middle Market Commercial Banking team at JPMorgan Chase Bank, where is spent the initial 20 years of his professional career. Additional responsibilities at Wintrust Financial include leading the Capital Markets and Sponsor Finance groups. Doug earned his B.S. in Business Administration, majoring in Finance, from Miami University (Ohio) and has an MBA from University of Illinois – Chicago. Boersma also serves on the Board of Directors of mHub, Chicago’s first innovation center for physical product development and manufacturing, as well as the Loyola Academy Hockey Club Board of Directors. He and his wife reside in Wilmette with their three sons.

MATT BUREL

Matt Burel transitioned to the Board of Directors in 2019 after spending two years supporting Funding For Sports Foundation as a Junior Board member. As a key stakeholder, he assists with planning fundraising events, takes part in the new student-athlete interview process, mentors current student-athletes, and has led professional development workshops in both financial literacy and college recruiting. Burel has spent his professional career in the financial services industry, and is currently a Vice President with Ayco, A Goldman Sachs Company. At Ayco, Burel provides investment management services and assists in financial planning and issue spotting. He earned his BS in Business Administration, with a Finance and Management focus from Truman State University. While at Truman State, Burel was a two year captain of the football team. He and his wife Marta live in Chicago with their son Mason.

DAVID GRUMHAUS

David D. Grumhaus, Jr., joined the Funding For Sports Foundation board in 2012. He has spent his entire professional career in the financial services industry. He is currently President and CIO of Duff & Phelps Investment Management Company. Prior to joining Duff & Phelps, Grumhaus worked for 10 years as a partner and portfolio manager at Copia Capital, a long-short equity hedge fund based in Chicago, and spent 11 years in investment banking with Goldman Sachs and William Blair. Grumhaus received his BA in history from Princeton University and his MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was also a George F. Baker scholar. In addition to his professional career, Grumhaus served for six years as an alderman for the City of Lake Forest, including five years as chair of the City’s finance committee. He is a past board member of PADS Lake County, the Lake Forest Country Day School and the Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Grumhaus and his wife, Jennifer, have five children and reside in Lake Forest, IL. They have had the privilege of mentoring and housing numerous former Beyond Sports’ college athletes over the past ten years and remain committed to helping the Beyond Sports Foundation and its athletes.
